Barbara Stroh, 84, Dickinson, ND, died Friday, May 23, 2008 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Barbara’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Austin Vetter as the celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be a Catholic Daughters rosary and a vigil at 7 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Barbara Hutmacher was born December 1, 1923 on the family farm in the Manning area, the daughter of Lucas and Seraphina (Urlacher) Hutmacher.

Barbara married Peter Stroh on February 16, 1944 at Fort Dix, New Jersey while Peter was serving in the military. They farmed in the Manning area from 1945 to 1959 at which time they moved into Dickinson. Following the birth of their forth son, Barbara earned her GED and also received training as a Nurses Aid and with the Red Cross.
Barbara had worked for Dickinson State College for a couple of summers and then at Berg Elementary in the lunch room for many years. She helped with the Amen Food Pantry, belonged to and was a life member of the D.A.V.A., VFW, and American Legion, and she also belonged to the Catholic Daughters, where she had held several positions in the organizations.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Peter; their three sons, Robert (Linda), Williston, Tom (Kathy), Dickinson, and Kevin (Kelly), Manassas, Va.; 10 grandchildren, Jody (Clinton) Richter, Javon Stroh, Jolene (Brian) Wanner, Bobbi Jo Stroh, Jonna Stroh, Mandy Rel, Tucker Stroh, Cooper Stroh, Parker Stroh and Madison Stroh; and five great-grandchildren, Levi, Jordyn, Caden, Kalyn and Isabella. She was preceded in death by a son, Freddie, her parents, three brothers and one sister.
