Bertha M. Gallagher, 73, Richardton died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the Richardton Memorial Health Center. Bertha’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday at the church with a rosary at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Bertha M. Zerr was born August 31, 1935 at Karlsruhe, the daughter of Raymond and Martina (Schumacher) Zerr. She was raised and educated in Karlsruhe.

Bertha was living and working in Minot when she met and married James Gallagher on November 16, 1963 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Minot. Together they adopted two daughters and in 1967 moved to Richardton where they made their home.

Bertha belonged to the Mod Homemakers and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed playing bingo, baking, gardening and canning her produce.

Bertha is survived by her husband, James; their two daughters, Janeane Swartz, Herreid, S.D., and LeeAnn (Neil) Galster, Dickinson; three grandchildren, James, Jennifer and Jessica Swartz; and two brothers, Edward Zerr, Eugene, Ore., and Robert Zerr, Apache Junction, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ray, Phillip, Leo, George, Sebastian, Eugene, Anton and Sylvester; and her sisters, Irene, Betty and Eva.
