Bertha Wanner, 102, Dickinson, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Bertha’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the Spring. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.

Bertha Ehresmann was born October 12, 1911, on the family farmstead near Richardton, the daughter of Michael and Mariann (Paul) Ehresmann. She was raised near Richardton having attended rural school.

Bertha married John E. Wanner on November 6, 1929, and they made their home in Gladstone. John died on September 11, 1978. She then moved to Portland, Ore. for eleven years before returning to Dickinson to reside.

She had belonged to St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gladstone and also St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, playing bingo and making wedding cakes.

Bertha is survived by seven children, Lenora Schmidt, Clackamas, Ore., Janet (Ken) Burk, Dickinson, Donna Denney, Warrenton, Ore., Sandra Shepherd, Stafford, Texas, John Wanner, Salt Lake City, Utah, Fred Wanner, Laurel, Mont., and Marvin Wanner, Belfield; one sister, Eleanor Weber, Dickinson; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; infant, son; a grandson; four brothers, Joe, John, Adam, and Michael; three sisters, Edith “Eva” Ehresmann, Betty Perricone, and Rose Dukart; four infant brothers; and one infant sister.
