Betty Getz, 82, Dickinson, formerly of Bowman, died on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at CHI St. Alexius Health Bismarck with family by her side. Betty’s Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, January 26, 2026 at Peace Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Rev. Mike Pretzer as officiant. Interment will follow at Tuttle Cemetery, rural Rhame. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Prayer Service at 4 p.m.
Betty Lou Meissel was born August 11, 1943 in Richardton, the daughter of Elmer and Olga (Rheinhardt) Meissel. She was raised and educated in Halliday with her four siblings, one being her twin, Delmer.
She went to work at a young age doing baking and cooking. She met Myron Getz and they were united in marriage on November 13, 1965 in Halliday and to this union, three children were born, Alan, and twins, Judy and John.
The family lived in a few locations prior to settling back in Bowman. Betty worked in a bakery and café before beginning her career working at the Bowman Nursing Home.
She especially loved baking, spending time with her family and attending their activities, going on trips, fishing and camping, and playing games with her kids and grandkids.
Betty is survived by her children, Alan Getz, Rhame, Judy (Dale) Johnson, Dickinson and John (Trisha) Getz, Dickinson; grandchildren, Dayton Getz, Erich Johnson, Casey Johnson, Kylie Getz, and Talon Getz; great-grandchildren, Myra Getz and Destiny Getz; siblings, Judy (Wallace) Bowers, Delmer Meissel, Marvin (Ardella) Meissel, and Tom (Arlene) Meissel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron; her parents; in-laws, John and Corine Getz; sister-in-law, Sharon Meissel.
Betty’s family extends a special thank you to Northland Pace, and special friends, Gayle, Laura, Geneva and Carol, and Judy and Richard for transporting her to church.
