He was born in Dickinson, ND on November 11, 1958 to Richard and Dorathy Schmidt. After attending Dickinson High School, Blaine studied auto mechanics at North Dakota State School of Science. He worked a variety of jobs utilizing his truck driving skills with Badinger Sand and Gravel, Mike’s Excavation, and various service stations. Blaine managed a property he owned for a short time in Dickinson and enjoyed serving at the Dairy Queen his parents owned.

Blaine and his first wife Michelle (Miller) moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1983 for new job opportunities. He worked for Matanuska Maid Dairy for seven years and the two managed a rental property they owned in Anchorage. They divorced in 1991.

Blaine purchased Natural Wonders Gallery in June 1996, located in the Sears Mall in Anchorage; it’s there he met his future wife Robin on April 11, 2003. Blaine and Robin married on May 18, 2007 in Anchorage.

Blaine started Bible School in September 2002 while attending Abbott Loop Church in Anchorage. In 2005 he began attending Muldoon Community Assembly (MCA) and served in Video Café while continuing Bible Studies at Far North Bible School. He received his License to Preach in April 2009 and began working part time at MCA as the Senior Adult Pastor. Blaine closed Natural Wonders Gallery on Dec 31, 2009 to pursue full time ministry.

Blaine was ordained with Assemblies of God on Apr 28, 2011 and served full time at MCA until Jan 25, 2022. He enjoyed helping people become all they could be and what God designed them to be. He began Celebrate Recovery at MCA and helped many receive healing and freedom from hurts, habits, and hang-ups. He helped others walk through the valley of death onto their eternal home.

In addition to his church community, Blaine also volunteered with the Anchorage Pioneer Home, Providence Extended Care, and Polaris Transitional Care. He loved his role as square dance caller with Dudes and Dames from 1983 to 2023.

Since 2022, Blaine thoroughly enjoyed “sharing Alaska with others” while driving motor coaches for Holland America Cruise &Tours during the summer months, and drove school buses for the Anchorage School District during the school months. He delighted in those kids and co-workers.
