Blanche E. Bang, 89, Dickinson, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer. Funeral services for Blanche will be at 3 p.m., on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Rev. Lisa Lewton officiating. Interment will take place at the Oakdale Cemetery north of Killdeer. Visitation will be on Saturday from 8 a.m. to service time at Ladbury Funeral Service.

She was born at her Grandmother Anna Fischer’s ranch house in Dunn County on Nov. 13, 1921. Blanche grew up on a ranch northwest of the Killdeer Mountains.

Blanche was the oldest of five children and attended the North Slope Rural School for eight years. She then graduated from Killdeer High School. Blanche went to college for two years and received her teaching certificate.

Blanche taught school for two years at the Richloam School at the base of the Killdeer Mountains. She traveled by horseback to school. Blanche then worked as a secretary for the Farmer’s Union in Minot. Blanche married Dale Bang on Jan. 4, 1948 and was a farm and ranch wife for 26 years. She was active in The American Sunday School Union, the local homemaker’s club, a 4-H leader, and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dickinson. Her family was very important to her and she looked forward to family reunions. Blanche worked for the city of Dickinson for a number of years before retiring. She resided at several locations in Dickinson and Evergreen before moving to Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer for five months.

Blanche is survived by three children, her daughter, Gale (Gordon) Scott, her son, John (Stacy) Bang, her daughter, Carol (Kevin) McCoy; four siblings, Dorothy (John) Foell, Richard (Betty) Johnson, Milton (Betty Lou) Johnson, and Clayton (Idella) Johnson. She had eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Ruth Johnson, her daughter, Penny Bennett, and her son, Thomas Bang.
