Brooke Nelson, 23, Dickinson, died as the result of a boating accident on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Skunk Bay near Mandaree. Brooke’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. William Ruelle as the celebrant and Fr. Shannon Lucht con-celebrating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue at the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Brooke was born May 29, 1994 in Dickinson, daughter of Steve and Dee Ann (Wanner) Nelson. She was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School in 2012. While in school she belonged to and was very active in the Dickinson Gymnastics Club, DHS Close Up and FBLA.

She had worked for Dan’s Supermarket, Candyland Daycare, JD’s Barbecue and most recently was working at The Rooster at Skunk Bay.

She loved to travel, attend music festivals and participate in any type of water related or snow sport. She enjoyed being with friends, socializing and looking for the next adventure. Family and friends were everything to her.

Brooke is survived by her parents, Steve and Dee Ann; siblings, Ryan, Mandan, Morgan and Ella, Dickinson; her soulmate and love of her life, Brian Ritzke; their four legged fur child, Gary; grandparents, George and Marie Nelson, Scranton, and Rose Wanner, Dickinson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Daniel Wanner.
