Caren Binstock, 45, formerly of Dickinson, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 surrounded by her family at her home in Maricopa, Ariz. Caren’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 4, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Inurnment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.
Caren Maria Castillo was born June 5, 1966 in Nicaragua. She was raised and educated in Nicaragua. Caren married Curtis George Binstock on January 25, 1988 in Reno, Nev. They lived in Woodland, Calif. until 1993 when the family moved to Dickinson. While in Dickinson, Caren volunteered at Head Start for four years and was a homemaker and mother. In 2005 the family moved to Maricopa, Ariz.
Caren enjoyed visiting and getting together with friends and family. She took great pride in her homes appearance and loved to decorate. Rummage sales, listening to music, telling stories to her family of her growing up in Nicaragua and spending time with family brought her great joy.
Having a son with autism and the love of a wonderful family helped her fight the battle against colon cancer, she was an extremely strong and courageous women.
Caren is survived by her best friend, closest allied and husband of 23 years, Curt; three children, Natasha Binstock, Emily Binstock, and Nathan Binstock, all of Maricopa; her mother, Emilia Rios; four siblings, Carla Brooks, Luis Castillo, Martha Castillo, and Hermida Diaz, all of Miami, Fla.; her father-in-law, George J. Binstock, Dickinson; and her in-laws, Chad (Nicole) Binstock, Washington, D.C., Glenda (Dana) Bird, Dickinson, John Binstock, Washington, D.C., and Jen (Jeremy) Kukowski, Mandan. She was preceded in death by her grandma, Luisa Gonzales; uncle, Carlos Rios; and mother-in-law, Arlene Binstock.
