Carl J. Heinert, Jr., 86, Dickinson, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson. Carl’s funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Rev. Ron Hodson officiating. Interment will follow at St. Philip’s Cemetery, at Hirschville. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9 a.m. to service time.

Carl J. Heinert was born January 23, 1931 in rural Taylor, son of Carl and Genevieve (Baer) Heinert, Sr. He was raised on the family farm north of Taylor where he attended country school. He completed his education in Richardton.

He was united in marriage to Josie Fichter on February 17, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton. He was a farmer having raised small grain, cattle, sheep, chickens and pigs.

As a dedicated fan of the Southwest Speedway, Carl was given an honorary lifetime pass which he was very proud of. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, making sausage and spoiling and sweetening up his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carl is survived by his children, Steve (Colleen Reinhardt) Heinert, Mandan, and Laurie (Mike) Haag, Dickinson; five grandchildren, Brock (Cathy Boele) Heinert, Darrick (Meghan) Heinert, Savannah (Cameron) Brown, Tyler (Brooklyn) Haag and Travis Haag; 11 great-grandchildren and one brother, Stanley Heinert, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Tom, Paul, Pete, Sister Genevieve and infant Elsie.
