Carl M. Kuhn, 71, Bismarck, formerly of the Lefor area died Monday, April 15, 2013 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Carl’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2013 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, south of Richardton, with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Richardton American Legion Theo R. Zech Post 180. Visitation will be on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary at 7 p.m., with Deacon Bob Zent presiding Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Carl Math Kuhn was born June 19, 1941 at Richardton, the son of Carl and Theresa (Rehling) Kuhn. Raised and educated in the Richardton area. He joined the United States Army on May 13, 1960 and served honorably until his discharge on May 12, 1962.
Carl married Bernice Geiger on September 11, 1962 in Dickinson. They moved to Montana where their five boys were born, later returned to North Dakota and purchased land near Lefor where their two girls were born. Together they farmed for 32 years, and he loved all this time. During this time period he also worked as a shop foreman for American Contracting in Dickinson for 30 years.
Carl and Bernice have spent the past two years in Bismarck. While in Lefor he belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Farming was his passion, and his family was very important to him. No matter how busy he was, he always found time to spend with his family.
Carl is survived by his wife, Bernice, Bismarck; their seven children, Stacey (Teresa) Kuhn, Natchitoches, La., Russell (Darla) Kuhn, Lefor, Jason (Dara) Kuhn, Gladstone, Scott (Christine) Kuhn, Mandan, Daniel (Danette) Kuhn, Taylor, Carla (Derrick) Forster, Bismarck, and Ashley (Jesse) Hecker, Dickinson; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Roland Kuhn, Chicago, Ill., Marvin (Margaret) Kuhn, Dickinson, and Vickie Conrad, Vacaville, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Richard and John Kuhn.
