Carol A. Frenzel, 83, Dickinson, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at Trinity Health Center, Minot. Carol’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2015 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, with a rosary & vigil at 2 p.m., with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding.
Carol A. Kono was born December 4, 1931, the daughter of Charles Watson Kono and Rose (Schafer) Kono. She was raised and educated in Gladstone, graduating from Gladstone High School. She went on to earn her teaching certificate and taught country school south of Dickinson for several years.
Carol was united in marriage to Mike Frenzel on June 23, 1953, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gladstone. Together they raised their four children. They made their home on the family farm south of Dickinson until retiring into Dickinson in 1985. Mike passed away on October 31, 2012.
She enjoyed her home, garden, flowers, canning, baking, and embroidery. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and loved making items for the Hospital Gift Shop. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Carol is survived by four children, Tim (Diana) Frenzel, Jamestown, Becky Frenzel, Dickinson, Wayne (Diane) Frenzel, Mandan, and Joan Frenzel, Longmont, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Cherie Frenzel, Angie (Dustin) Johnson, Jon Frenzel, Mark Frenzel, Suzanne Frenzel, Jason (Ashley) Frenzel, and Sara Frenzel; three great-grandchildren, Evan Frenzel, Emma Frenzel, and Kaia Johnson; sister, Audry Gohner; and brother, Robert (Doris) Kono.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; and her parents.
