Carol was born July 19, 1940 in Richardton, the daughter of Joseph and Ann (Gion) Link. She was raised and educated in Richardton, the fourth of six children. Following high school, she went to Mount Marty College in South Dakota for two years to study English. She married Lee Mayer December 29, 1960 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. They made their home a half mile from the family farm. Three children, Adrienne, Shane and Stephanie filled their house with noise and laughter. They were blessed with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

After 30 plus years on the farm they decided to start a new chapter and moved to Fargo. Carol worked at a clothing store, volunteered at The Hospice of the Red River Valley for ten years, was a great cook and kept the house running smoothly. She enjoyed going to adoration every week at St. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church and helping at the church. Her faith and prayer have been very important in her life.

Carol is survived by her husband, Lee, Bismarck; children, Stephanie (LeRoy) Friedt, Bismarck; Shane (Pamela) Mayer, Burnsville, MN and Adrienne (Michael) Kautzman, Golden Valley, MN; grandchildren, Brianna (Michael) Weisbeck, Sara (Brett) Wanner, Erin Mayer, John Mayer, Joseph Kautzman and Jude Kautzman; great-grandchildren, Gemma, Peter, Gabrielle and Lucia Weisbeck; and siblings, Wayne (Vangie) Link, Bismarck, Ray (Emilie) Link, Bismarck, Joanne (Tom) King, Lawrence, KS, and Marilyn Link, Westland, MI.
