On July 6, 1959, Carol married Don E. Beckert in Dickinson. Over the years Carol wore many hats-each one with pride and purpose. From working at Sax Motors to American State Bank, then on to the Department of Motors Vehicles and finishing her career at the Register of Deeds for Stark County. Carol was never afraid of hard work and she gave it her all making lasting friendships along the way. Her hands were always busy, but she never missed a chance to share a story or lend a hand.

In her free time, Carol loved hunting & fishing with Don and her family, golfing, going to sporting events to support her sons and grandchildren and her many nieces & nephews, singing with her Sweet Adelines group and she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Carol is survived by her sons, Brad and his wife Janel; Allan and his wife Liz; grandson, Hunter August Beckert (Claire); and granddaughter, Alaina Jean Beckert; one brother, Gary Selle; one sister, Joyce Farrell and her husband Bob; sister-in-law, Gayle Selle; and numerous, wonderful in-laws as well as 16 nieces and nephews who they tenderly referred to her as “Grandma Auntie Carol.” She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, on September 26, 2012; her parents, Berent and Lentina Selle; brother, Larry Selle; and sister-in-law, Beth Selle.

The family would like to express special appreciation to all the caregivers at the CountryHouse Residence who provided such compassionate care in the years Carol lived there as well as the hospice team. Your compassion and unwavering kindness brought comfort not only to Carol, but to all of us. Your presence made a difficult journey a little easier, and we are forever thankful.
