Caroline Buckman, 88, Dickinson, died Monday, July 17, 2017 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Caroline Weiss was born November 8, 1928 in Belfield, daughter of Martin and Alvina (Meschke) Weiss. She was raised and educated in Belfield, graduating from Belfield Public High School in 1946. She continued her education at University of North Dakota and Dickinson State University.

She was united in marriage to Lester Buckman on October 7, 1947 in Dickinson. Caroline and Lester had two children, Nora and Austin. They lived in Belfield from 1950 to 2012. In 2012 Caroline moved to Hawk’s Point in Dickinson and later moved in May 2014 to St. Benedict’s Health Center.

Caroline was a homemaker, school board member and school district treasurer. Caroline enjoyed reading and writing historical articles and poetry. She was a member of Belfield Women’s Hobby Club, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Stark County Historical Society.

Caroline is survived by her son, Austin (Sarah), Aurora, Colo.; grandchildren Miles, Hannah and Lisa; and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Lester; daughter Nora Buckman; parents, Martin and Alvina Weiss; and brothers, William and Joseph Weiss.
