Carolyn Marie Klopp passed away May 27, 2021 in Killdeer, North Dakota after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was 77 years old. Carolyn’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6 P.M., Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Halliday with Fr. Joseph Evinger as celebrant.

Carolyn was born Carolyn Marie White April 18, 1944 in Portland, Oregon to Teddy Merrel White and Geraldine Marie White (Yost). Carolyn’s father died in 1959 and her mother remarried and the family relocated to Springfield, Oregon area.

Carolyn married Robert Lloyd Hanawalt on September 8, 1961 in Reno, Nevada. Their first son, Scott Hanawalt, was born shortly thereafter. Upon Robert’s graduation from the University of Oregon the family moved to the Los Angeles area where a second son, Dean Hanawalt was born. In 1970 the family moved to Portland so that Robert could enter Dental School at the Oregon Health Sciences University. Upon his graduation in 1975, the family moved to Longview, Washington where Robert set up his dental practice. Carolyn kept house and also kept the books for the dental practice. Robert passed away in 1990.

Carolyn married Carl Ernest Klopp, Jr. on August 17, 1991 in Longview. They lived in Longview, Ridgefield, Ilwaco, and Kelso, Washington. Carolyn became very active at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Longview. Carolyn started and operated a Bridal shop in Longview during this time. Carolyn and Carl moved to Bentonville, Arkansas, where Carl died in 2005.

After Carl’s death Carolyn moved to Halliday, North Dakota. There Carolyn married Clayton Neurohr on May 13, 2011. She and Clayton raised cattle. She also became involved in local government.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Clayton at home; her brother Richard White of Sequim, Washington; her sons, Scott Hanawalt of Portland and Dean Hanawalt of Lake Bluff, Illinois; step-children, Timothy Klopp and Sheila Klopp, both of Kelso, Washington, Brandee Neurohr, of Halliday, and Trace Neurohr, Halliday; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one Godchild. Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother in 2007.
