Catherine Anna Wieglenda was born August 25, 1926 at Lefor, the daughter of Fred and Katie (Lambing) Wieglenda. She attended early elementary school at St. Elizabeth’s in Lefor, and the remaining grades and high school were completed at Gladstone. Prior to her marriage she taught one year of rural school nine miles east of Lefor.

Catherine married Paul Enger on September 20, 1947 in Taylor. Together they made their home in Gladstone where she has resided until the time of her death.

She enjoyed writing poems, some of which she shared with the local Dickinson radio stations. She had won several prizes for her poetry, and was an avid reader and enjoyed the political aspect most of all. Catherine’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her ultimate joy. She was a member of the Stark County Historical Society and had won a prize for naming their book, Heritage and Destiny.

Catherine is survived by her children, Dennis Enger, Gladstone, and Bonita (Oddvar) Larsen, Woodbury, Minn.; grandchildren, Christa (Jason) Maack, Eagan, Minn., and Justin Hoopman, Canton, Conn.; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Matthew Maack; her sister, Ellen Simon, Grand Forks; brother, Emil (Margaret) Wieglenda, Gladstone; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul on March 26, 1989; her parents; brothers, Edward, Martin and George Wieglenda; sisters, Selma Schneider and Ann Kaufman; nephew, William Wieglenda; and nieces, Arlene Schneider and Sandra Dinius.
