Catherine Romanyshyn was born July 4, 1920 near Snow, ND, the daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Olienyk) Romanyshyn. She was raised and educated in this area having attended the Indian Springs School District #5.
Catherine married Paul Mularchek in February of 1942 at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gorham, ND. Together they farmed north of South Heart until Paul’s death on October 7, 1970. Catherine sold the farm and moved into Dickinson with her youngest daughter, Donna. While in Dickinson she worked for the Ray Hotel/Ivanhoe Inn for over 20 years, and also as a personal housekeeper. Due to health reasons she retired at the age of 80 years old.
Catherine has belonged to the Ukrainian Cultural Institute and took great pride in her Ukrainian culture. She did volunteer work for several organizations, especially for RSVP for over 30 years. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, the outdoors, gardening, growing flowers, music and dancing, but her greatest joy came from being with her children and grandchildren, and visiting with her friends and extended family.
Catherine is survived by three daughters, Sandra (Albert) Kramer, Palmer, WA, Marlys (Danny Neal) Mularchek, Seattle, WA, and Donna (James Roberts) Mularchek, Commerce, TX; two grandchildren, Rena (Chris) Boesche, and Louie Kramer; one sister, Julia Hurinenko, Manning; one brother, Joe Romanyshyn, Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and eight brothers and sisters, William, Eugene, Tena, Mercy, Steve, Micheal, Marie and Phillip.
Memorials may directed towards the Ukrainian Cultural Institute in memory of Catherine.
