Cecelia Brusich, 92, New England, died Monday, October 5, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Cecelia’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., October 10, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England with Fr. Patrick Moore, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, New England. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil at 7:30 p.m., with Deacon Victor Dvorak presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Cecelia Schwartzbauer was born January 20, 1917 at Center, the daughter of Joseph and Gertrude (Scheartl) Schwartzbauer. Her family moved to New England when she was young and here she was raised and educated.
Cecelia married James Brusich on October 17, 1944 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England. Together they farmed west of New England until the Fall of 1969 when they moved into New England. They purchased the home that her dad had built and she was raised in. James Brusich died April of 1973, and Cecelia continued to make New England her home.
Cecelia was very faithful in cleaning the church every Saturday morning. She enjoyed playing cards, baking and sending baked items home with others, and embroidering and crocheting. Cecelia loved to have company and visiting with others.
Cecelia is survived by two sons, Chuck Brusich, Bismarck, and Mike Brusich, New England; three sisters, Margaret Miller, Dickinson, Elizabeth (Bernard) Klug, Bismarck, and Francis Brentrup, Arizona; six grandchildren, Debbie (Mel) Pedersen, Jenny Raab, Leon (Patricia) Brusich, Nathan, Douglas and Steven Brusich; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Joseph; her parents; six brothers, Thomas, George, Joe, Aloys, William and Carl; and one sister, Odelia.
