Cecilia Stroh, 99, Dickinson, died on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson. Cecilia’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Robert Shea as celebrant. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil at 6 p.m. with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Cecilia Hecker was born February 2, 1926 on the family farm near Fairfield, the daughter of Lieberatus and Anna Marie (Faller) Hecker. She was raised and educated in the Fairfield area, where she attended country school through the eighth grade.
Cecilia was united in marriage to Nicodemus “Nick” Stroh on December 27, 1944 at St. Peter Canisius Catholic Church in Grassy Butte. They resided on the Raphael Stroh farm west of Manning which they later purchased for themselves.
Shortly following the death of her husband on September 10, 1971, Cecilia moved to Dickinson. It was during this time she went on to work in the hospitality industry while raising her three youngest of six children.
She was a member of the St. Anthony Club. Cecilia enjoyed the dances at the St. Anthony, playing cards, visiting, and spending time with her family.
Cecilia is survived by her children, Carol Bullinger, Dickinson, Raphael “Ray” (Virginia) Stroh, Dickinson, Charlet Sperbeck, La Crescent, MN, Maynard (Becky Olheiser) Stroh, Dickinson, Harold (Roberta) Stroh, Gresham, OR, and Dorothy “Elizabeth” (Ronald Costin) Stroh, Lakewood, CA; eight grandchildren, Kathy (Dave) Hondl, Denise (Blaine) Decker, Justan (Mandy Stone) Stroh, Wade Stroh, Eric Stroh, Jodee (Clint) Jacobs, Jamie Stroh, and Audrey Stroh; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Habiger; and sister-in-law, Eva Kilzer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Stroh; great-grandson, Dresden; her parents; sons-in-law, LeRoy Bullinger and Samuel Sperbeck; 11 siblings and spouses.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude’s.
