On Monday, September 9, 2019 Charlene Elizabeth (Knaup) Mischel, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away at the age of 81 following an illness with dementia. Mass Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2019 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gladstone with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Charlene was born September 26, 1937 on the family farm in Stark County to Lawrence and Theresa (Bayer) Knaup. She was raised on the Knaup farm near Gladstone with her 11 siblings. On November 25, 1959 Charlene married David Dietz and together they raised seven children.

Charlene married Patrick Mischel on November 19, 1994. She had a passion for baking, cooking and crocheting. She always welcomed family into her home and expressed her love by serving them incredible baked goods while enjoying their company. Additionally, Charlene was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary.

Charlene is survived by six children, David (Jeannie) Dietz, Bakerfield, Calif., Darwin (Michele) Dietz, Velva, Delven (Victoria) Dietz, Elkhorn, Neb., Della (Dan) Fugere, Belfield, Dena (Steve) Larson, Fargo and Dorene (Tom) Gordian, Dickinson, husband, Patrick Mischel, Hebron; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Daniel (Virginia), Delores (Maurice) Muth, Philip (Betty), Anna (Ed) Stockert, Angie Hellman, Shirley (Larry) Fettig, Ron (Diane), Fran (Marla) and Roger (Karen).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Theresa Knaup; daughter, Carletta Knaup; siblings, Charles (Hilda), and Richard (Marlene).
