Charlene Mische, 89, Dickinson, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson with family by her side. Charlene’s Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February, 6, 2026 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Rev. Scott Erickson as officiant. Inurnment will take place at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Richardton.
Charlene Nolte was born May 3, 1936 in Hebron to Alvin A. and Rose (Stelter) Nolte. She was raised in Hebron and graduated from Hebron Public School. After graduation she went to work at Northwestern Bell Telephone, in Bismarck as a telephone operator. When NW Bell went to Dial System, she went to work at the State Capitol Building in the Workman’s Compensation Bureau. Later she moved back to Hebron and worked as a cashier and bookkeeper at Urban’s Inc.
She then met and married Norman Mische at Hebron, June 17, 1959. They farmed north of Hebron, during that time their two daughters were born, Tammy and Debbie. Later they moved into Hebron, Norman continued to farm. Charlene went to work at Security Bank of Hebron and later she worked at the Hebron Brick Co. in the office. In the later 80’s they retired and moved to Dickinson. They enjoyed spending their winters in Laughlin, Nevada.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, oil painting, and doing many crafts, she crocheted an afghan for each of her girls and all her grandchildren before she entered the nursing home. While they were living in Hebron her favorite pastime on Sunday afternoons was playing games and going to the casinos. And when she got a computer, she loved playing different games on the internet. She loved her girls dearly and especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Charlene is survived by her daughters, Tammy (fiancé, Kevin) Dorner, Dickinson, and Debbie (Tracy) Rixen, Richardton; grandchildren, Brandon Dorner, Dickinson, Dusty (Jessie) Rixen, Richardton, Lacey (Colten) Johnston, Williston, and Dalton (Ashley) Rixen, Taylor; eight great-grandchildren, Zayn Dorner, Payden, Sloane, Hardy and Taylee Jo Rixen, Tody and Theo Johnston, and Louie Rixen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman (2015); son-in-law, Don Dorner; brother, Alvin R. (Margaret) Nolte; and brother-in-law, Lou (Carolyn) Mische.
