Charles E. Wallace, Jr., 82, Mott, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at West River Regional Medical Center, Hettinger. Charles’ Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday June 4, 2019 at the New Hope Church of the Nazarene, Dickinson with Rev. John Strand officiating. Inurnment will take place at Sunny Slope Cemetery, Mott.

Charles E. Wallace, Jr. was born February 17, 1937 to Charles and Nora Wallace while they were living on the farm between Mott and Regent, where his grandparents, Albert and Mrytle Wallace, homesteaded in 1905. Charles continued to live on the same farm until his death on May 29, 2019 except for one year, 1955, that he attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. It was in Nampa that he met his sweetheart, Janice Evans of Ellendale. Charles and Janice were married on November 1, 1957 at the Church of the Nazarene in Ellendale, where Janice grew up. Following their marriage, Charles and Janice established their home on the Cloverdale Stock Farm west of Mott.

Charles and Janice had five children, Roberta “Bobbi” Bradley (David) of Gardner, Kan., Karen Heincker (Dan) of Marion, Ind., Chuck Wallace (Marsha) of Basin, Wyo., Janet Pritchard (Darrel) of Mott, and Michael “Mike” Wallace (Marla) of Corvallis, Mont. Charles farmed and ranched until his son, Michael took over the operation when Charles retired.

Charles became a member of the Regent Church of the Nazarene when he was eight years old and he was a faithful member until his death. He served on the local church board for 60 years, and led congregational singing most of his adult life.

Charles dearly loved Janice, his five children and their spouses, 20 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. He enjoyed life. He liked taking trips to Branson, hunting, fishing, and playing tables games, his specialty was Scrabble. Charles and Janice played Scrabble almost daily. He would challenge anyone who would play …especially his grandkids.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and one grandchild, Micah Bradley (Bobbi and David Bradley). He is survived by his wife, Janice; all five children and their spouses; grandkids; and great-grandchildren.

Charles was a man of faith. He loved God, his wife Janice, and his family. They will miss him dearly.
