Chester Moore, 90, Dickinson, died Saturday, February 25, 2012 after a short illness, at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Chester’s funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Rev. Dan Freed officiating. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military honors will follow the funeral and be provided by the Dickinson Honors Team. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Chester was born March 30, 1921 at the family farm, southeast of Gladstone, the son of Ernest and Hebe (Fenno) Moore.

After graduating from high school, Chester attended Dickinson State University. He joined the U.S. Army on April 23, 1946 and having served in Japan, Korea, and the Philippines, he was honorably discharged on September 29, 1947. He then returned to Gladstone to work on the family farm.

He loved the outdoors, working as a mechanic, and tending to his farm. He loved watching the Western channel and visiting with his family and friends.

Chester is survived by his sister Jenny Dobie of Madison, Wisc., and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Hebe, brothers Lloyd and Lee, and sister Viola Koppi.
