Chris Zeece, 85, Richardton, formerly of Minnesota, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at his home with family at his side. Mass of Christian Burial for Chris will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2015 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids, Minn., with Fr. Thomas Dufner as the celebrant. Interment will follow at the Epiphany Cemetery, with military honors being provided the Minnesota Army National Guard. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Chris Zeece was born November 14, 1929 at Kirkwood, Mo., the son of Gus and Ourania (Cosmos) Zeece. He joined the United States Air Force, and served honorably during the Korean Conflict, from July 6, 1948 to July 1, 1952, having earned the rank of sergeant.
Chris was united in marriage to Helene Gold on January 16, 1954. He worked for electronic firms prior to attending college where he earned a degree in Electronic Engineering. Chris work for the United States Government as an Electrical Engineer for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He and Helene had made their home in Minnesota throughout this time. Helene died in 1994.
On June 16, 2006, Chris and Katherine (Senger) Frederick were married. They made their home in Richardton. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
Chris is survived by his six children, Chris (Sue) Zeece, Matt Zeece, Tony (Sherry) Zeece, Greg (Mary) Zeece, Kate (Bruce) Mayland, and Karla (Matt) Doth; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Steve Zeece; sister-in-law, Margaret Zeece; step-children, Connie (Dave) Kelsch, Gerry (Cheryl) Frederick, Allan (Marlene) Frederick, Jan (Rob) Kittay, Dale (Karen) Frederick, Carol (Ron) Smith, Marilyn (Cary) Lacher, Jonila (Scott) Bohn, Brian Frederick, and Kelly (Jessie) Frederick; 26 step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helene; his parents; brothers, George Zeece and Alexander (Mary) Zeece; sister-in-law, Waltraut Zeece; and sister and brother-in-law, Sophia (Gene) Sparks.
