Clarence A. Steiner, 82, Dickinson, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Clarence’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.

Clarence was born August 13, 1927 in Mott, the son of Fred and Monica (Wetzstein) Steiner. He was raised on his parents farm and educated in the Mott area having attended country school and also Assumption Abbey High School in Richardton. He worked for area farmers, combiners and did seismograph work.

Clarence married Lydia Weber on November 10, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They made their home in Dickinson where he worked for Schilla Hardware for 38 years and installed carpets for many years. Clarence has been a resident of St. Benedict’s Health Center for the past two years.

Clarence was on the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, belonged to the St. Anthony Club where he served as Treasurer for over 40 years, also the St. Pius Verein and Knights of Columbus. He loved to fish, collect coins and took great pride installing carpets. His greatest joy came from spending time with all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Lydia; their five children, Vernon (Ann) Steiner, Riverside, Calif., Melvin (Vicky) Steiner, Dickinson, Eugene (Shari) Steiner, Yuma, Ariz., Rodney (Cindy) Steiner, Dickinson and Cynthia (Homer) Sianghio, Kent, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Jason (Brittany) Steiner, Joshua Steiner, Jacob Steiner, Christopher (Christine) Steiner, Alyssa Steiner, Brendin Steiner, Colton Steiner, Maranda Sianghio and Nicholas Sianghio; two great-grandchildren, Xander Steiner and Ethan Steiner; two brothers, Arnold (Monica) Steiner, Dickinson and Walt (Rita) Steiner, Dickinson; and two sisters, Mildred (Leo) Kuntz, Dickinson and Dorothy (Frank) Siller, Henderson, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, William, Charles and Richard; sister, Matilda Kuntz; two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Trinity High School Fine Arts Department.
