Clarence was born on September 6, 1921 to George and Antonia (Brunette) Dorval in Belfield. He attended country school for six years and when he was 21, he joined the US Army. He served in World War II from 1942 to 1945. When he returned from the service he met Dorothy Ficek at a dance in the Memorial Hall. On June 11, 1946, Clarence married Dorothy and together they raised 11 children.

Clarence lived his whole life in Belfield. He worked as a farmer, school bus driver, mechanic, construction worker, and electrician. Actually, he was a jack of all trades. He loved to tinker in the shop, dance, play cards and bowl. He enjoyed spending time with his family and always had a baby on his lap. Many weekends were spent fishing and camping in his camper- school bus.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children, Mary Ann Dorval (Boyce) of Grassy Butte, Leonard (Sharon) Dorval of Belfield, Gary (Colleen) Dorval of New Town, Alice Fischer (Len Lindbo) of Dickinson, Terry (Michelle) Dorval of Watford City, Loretta (Kevin) Wanner of Belfield, Bernice Glanzman (Charlie Huschka) of Pick City, Neil Dorval of Hazen, and Robert Dorval of Belfield. Clarence was also blessed with 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Angela Cossette of Horace.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Arvella Huisinger, son Lawrence Dorval, and one grandchild, Tarin Dorval. Also brothers Wilmer, Art, Joseph, and sister, Lorraine Burwick.
