Clarence J. Storseth, 83, Dickinson died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Clarence’s funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Rev. Steven Tangen officiating and Rev. Lisa Lewton co-officiating. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 10 a.m., MDT. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Drill Team. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday with the family present from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to greet friends. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service and from 12 p.m. to service time at the church.
Clarence was born October 1, 1925 at Stady, N.D., the son of John and Christina (Lund) Storseth. He was raised and educated in the Williston area having graduated from Williston High School in 1944. Clarence served honorably in the United States Army from February 2, 1946 to July 12, 1947, during which time he was stationed in Norway serving as a driver and interpreter for the General.
Clarence married Marcella Austreim on June 14, 1952 in Williston. He began his career with MDU in 1948 in Williston with a move to Kenmare prior to moving to Dickinson in 1969. Following 42 years, he retired as a Division Manager with MDU in November 1990.
Clarence was very involved and active in his community, having served and belonged to numerous civic, church and fraternal organizations, many of which he held different chairs. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, traveling, working community events, and especially his family time.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Marcella; their daughter, Mary Chris Gerving, Dickinson; one sister, Joan (Ray) Teske, Williston; brother-in-law, Bob (Marilyn) Austreim, Williston; sister-in-law, Norma Austreim, Williston; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sister-in-law, Harold Austreim, Melvin Austreim and Selmer (Marion) Austreim. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial be sent to St. John Lutheran Church Trust Fund, Dickinson or Badlands Ministry, Medora.
