Clement “Clem” L. Dutchak, 68, Belfield, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024 at CHI St. Alexius Bismarck, surrounded by his family. Clem’s Parastas will be 10 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield with Fr. Marty Nagy as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Clem was born September 30, 1955, to George and Elizabeth (Maslowski) Dutchak. He grew up and attended school in Belfield. Clem earned his GED and then an associate degree in Process Plant Technology from BSC.
On November 8, 1974, Clem married Marilyn Binstock. During the early years of their marriage, Clem worked as a mechanic. They later moved to Billings, MT where Clem took a job at Boise Cascade. The family then moved back to Belfield where they continued to raise their family. Their home was always welcoming and full of love for everyone.
Clem and Marilyn were blessed with three boys, Rick, Jamie, and Nathan. His family was his pride and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to brag about them. He treasured watching his grandchildren participate in their activities, especially sporting events. He spent countless hours at the ballpark, the football field, and the gym. Clem had a strong faith in God and the Blessed Virgin Mary. He spent many hours in prayer. He loved to socialize and would go out of his way to visit anyone he knew or had yet to meet. To Clem there were no strangers, simply friends that he hadn’t had a chance to get to know.
Clem loved to fish and spend time at the lake. Even when he wasn’t able to fish, he was happy to sit and take in the scenery while enjoying good company. Deer hunting was a family tradition that brought multiple generations together. Even after he was unable to fill a tag himself, he enjoyed riding along and scouting. Clem and Marilyn’s wedding anniversary falls on the opening of deer season. We still aren’t sure how Marilyn convinced him to agree to that date. He spent many hours pickling, making deer jerky, and washing Marilyn’s baking dishes. Shaking dice was another one of his pastimes; however, keeping an eye on him and his counting was a must.
Clem is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of 49 years along with their children, Rick (Lana) Dutchak, Jamie (Lindsey) Dutchak and Nate (Rhoda) Dutchak; nine grandchildren, Brady (Brianna) and Dawson Dutchak; Keyan, Reese, Scottie, and Veya Dutchak; Jayden and Nizhoni Bailey and Lourya Dutchak; three great-granddaughters, Amelia, Embrynn and Brezley Dutchak; siblings, Paulette Dutchak, Terry Dutchak, and Rosemary Hurt; brother-in-law, James Fischer; sister-in-law, Linda Dutchak; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and parents-in-law, Fritz and Anna Binstock; grandson, Taylor Dutchak; siblings, Georgiana Fischer, Marcella Haworth, Arnold Dutchak, and Sebastian Dutchak; and brother-in-law Gary Haworth.
The family wishes to thank all of the ICU doctors and nurses at CHI St Alexius Bismarck for the excellent care Clem received during his hospital stay.
