Cyril LeRoy Schwartz was born on February 9, 1934 on a farm seven miles north of Hebron to Eva (Schneider) and Albert Schwartz. LeRoy passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026 at the age of 92. LeRoy was a man who loved deeply and unconditionally. The love and protection he showed first to his beloved wife. Evelyn, then to his family and friends, form a legacy that is beyond words. He had a profound passion for his family, the land he cherished, and for sustainable farming and ranching, long before it became widely recognized.

After being honorably discharged from the Air Force. LeRoy married the love of his life, Evelyn Burris, on February 8, 1957 in North Sacramento, CA. Shortly after their marriage they moved to a farm north of Richardton where they became dairy farmers. In 1968 they purchased land 20 miles north of Richardton where they farmed and ranched for over 30 years.

LeRoy will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his unwavering faith, and his dedication to his community. He was a man of integrity, always putting others before himself. His kindness and generosity had a way of making everyone feel valued and loved. LeRoy sat on the Richardton School Board for several years and drove an ambulance for Richardton/Taylor for 18 years. He was also a founding member of the Richardton Volunteer Fire Department where he served from 1974 to 2017.

LeRoy’s legacy extends beyond his immediate family. He mentored countless individuals, teaching them the importance of hard work, perseverance, and respect for others. He was a quiet philanthropist, often recognizing needs and meeting them with humility and anonymity. LeRoy was a pillar of strength and wisdom, and his guidance will be greatly missed.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eva; his daughter, Elaine; sister-in-law, Sharon Schwartz; and brother-in-law, Donald MacDonald.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Evelyn; his children, Pam (Mike) Campbell, Mandan, Michael (Heather) Schwartz, Richardton, and Lori Whitten, Ozark, MO. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rick Schwartz, GloryAnn MacDonald, and Delores Sommars.

Although LeRoy may no longer be with us physically, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy of love, compassion, and service will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, LeRoy, knowing that your impact on this world will never be forgotten.
