Dagmar Sloan, 100, Killdeer, died Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer. Dagmar’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church, Killdeer, with Rev. Rachel Simonson officiating. Interment will follow at the Whetstone Cemetery, west of Killdeer. Visitation will be on Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the church.

Dagmar was born April 27, 1914 on the family farm west of Killdeer, the daughter of Mathias and Anne (Kaasa) Sloan. She was raised and educated west of Killdeer, having attended the country school close to home. She went on to receive training as a beautician, and for the next several years worked as a hair dresser. During this time she also worked as a housekeeper for several years.

Dagmar became involved as a partner in the home ranch where she did the cooking and house work as her share of the labor. She had also over the years provided comfort and care to many of her siblings, nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed putting in a large garden and tending to it, and also her weekly Wednesday trips to Dickinson.

Dagmar is survived by her nieces and nephews, Gary (Mavis) Jepson, Diane (friend-Larry) Allmendinger, Loren (Lori) Jepson, Arden (Clark) Lawler, Joni (Ward) Wing, Aaron (Kaylene) Jepson, Connie (Scott) Gilmore, Arnie (Syd) Nupen, Ardella Bechtle, Carol (Pat) Hawkinson, Emelie (Mike) Fischer, and Sandy Keithly; numerous grand-nieces and nephews; several great-grand-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-grand-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded ,in death by her parents; three brothers, Ole Sloan, Helge Sloan, and Oscar Sloan; three sisters, Margaret Carlson, Olga Nupen, and Agnes Jepson; two infant sisters, Agnes and Runghild; one nephew, Rodger Nupen; one niece, Shirley Schwindt; and a great-niece, Jessica Strommen
