Dale Joseph Wanner August 4, 1956 - September 6, 2024

Date of Funeral

Saturday, September 14, 2024

Dale Joseph Wanner, 68, New England, died on Friday, September 6, 2024 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson with family by his side. Dale’s Liturgy of Word Service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Ross Reiter presiding. There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a Time of Sharing & Rosary at 7 p.m.

Dale was born August 4, 1956 in Dickinson to Paul and Edith (Jirges) Wanner. He was the sixth of nine children that were raised on the family farm northwest of New England. Dale graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in 1974.

After high school, he headed south to Oklahoma for a brief period. In 1978, Dale returned home to the family dairy and small grain farm. He married once and later divorced. After his retirement in 2008, he continued working for area businesses related to farming. Dale’s love of agriculture not only made him a living but made him happy. He was a handyman for anyone who needed him, loved fishing, hunting, and playing cards with anyone who stopped by. Dale found a lot of joy in his garden and his butcher shop, which was a well known gathering place for friends and family.

Being from a large family, Dale enjoyed parties and family gatherings. Many of his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews will miss his shenanigans as well as his laughter when caught cheating while playing games. He was a staple at the Wanner Family Picnics and was never short for words when critiquing someone’s food or salad that was made at a family gathering. He was bestowed the two nicknames of Fudzy and Butches by his family and friends.

Dale will be greatly remembered as a Brother, Uncle, Fudzy, Butches, and friend to many; he will be missed.

Dale is survived by his siblings, Harvey (Jean) Wanner, New Hradec, Marrietta (Don) Nygaard, Bismarck, Jackie (Ray) Kraft, Dickinson, Pauly Krebs, New England, and Janel (Bryan) Schiele, Minot; in-laws, Jim Fogarty, Belle Plaine, MN, and Sheila Wanner, New England; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Edith Wanner; grandparents, John P. and Ottila Wanner, Fred and Mary Jirges; one infant brother, Joseph; siblings, Duane Wanner, Debbie Fogarty, Terry Wanner; and brothers in-law, Clarence Huck and Jim Krebs.
