Dale S. Brew, 72, Manning, ND, died Saturday, January 5, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Dale’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Killdeer, ND with Fr. James Shea as the celebrant. Interment will follow at the Killdeer Cemetery with military honors provided by the Killdeer American Legion Ezra Barrows Post #46. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the church with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m..
Dale was born to Dan and Nessie (Starling) Brew in Dickinson on November 11, 1935.
Dale enlisted into the United States Army in 1954. While in the service he was stationed in Missouri, Germany, and California. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and remained in Norwalk, California where he worked for JC Penney. After the death of his father in 1957 he returned to the family farm near Manning, ND.
On October 6, 1958 he married Helen Giesinger in Hazen. Together they farmed and raised their family near Manning. Along with farming Dale worked for Minnesota Valley Breeders Association, selling veterinary supplies for Glassco Veterinary, Manning Sales and Service, in the oil field for M & O Construction, Beach Ready Mix and Dickinson Ready Mix. Due to failing health he retired from Dickinson Ready Mix on Wednesday, September 5, 2001.
Dale enjoyed his grandchildren, playing cards, traveling with his family, snowmobiling, and his trips to the Miles City Bucking Horse Sale with his life long friends and the daily meetings with his coffee friends.
Dale’s love for life helped him fight a courageous battle with congestive heart disease and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Dale is survived by his wife Helen and their four sons, Michael (JoAnn Marsh), Manning, ND, Lynn (Linda), Manning, ND, Blaine (Florence), Colorado Spring, CO, Shawn (Jennifer) Manning, ND; his grandchildren, Adam Strand, Wade (Sandy) Strand, Lacey Strand, Lindsey Brew, Andrea Brew, Chelsea Brew, Ashley Brew, Shayly Brew, Makayla Brew, great-grandchildren; Lexi, Will, Aurora and Olivia Strand; one sister, Delores Hansen, Hemet, CA; two brothers, Howard Brew, Fresno, CA, Roger (Linda) Brew, Manning, ND; one sister-in-law, Omy Brew, Bismarck, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Warren Brew.
