Daniel E. Sandvik, 65, South Heart, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Altru Health Systems, Grand Forks. Dan’s funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Daglum Lutheran Church, south of South Heart, with Rev. Roger Dieterle officiating. Interment will follow at the Daglum Cemetery. There will be a family & friends service at 7:30 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Daniel Eric Sandvik was born on February 6, 1951 in Dickinson, the son of Elmer and Helen (Arne) Sandvik. He attended New England Public High School. He met the love of his life, Donna Swanson, while attending North Dakota State University. They were united in marriage on June 14, 1974 in Turtle Lake. After their marriage, they made their home on the farm that his grandfather homesteaded, where they would start their family. Dan and Donna farmed and raised cattle for many years. He also worked at the Hettinger County Soil Conservation Office, Missouri Basin Well Service, and Southwest Ag Inc.

Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports, but most of all, spending time with his family. He was a past member of the New England Lions Club, the Stark County and State Soil Conservation Boards, the Daglum Lutheran Church Council, and the New England Community Choir. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Daniel is survived by his wife Donna; his three children Alissa Sandvik (Branddon Weece), Dodge City, Kan., Jonathan (Ariel) Sandvik, Grand Forks, and Kristina (Christopher) Jung, Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Austin, Everly, and Chasin; siblings Arne (Wendie) Sandvik, Mark (Bonnie) Sandvik, Lois (Daniel) Redka, and Susan (Pete) D’Oronzio; mother-in-law, Violet (Swanson) Olson; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Helen Sandvik; father-in-law, Warren Swanson; and niece Ashley Swanson.
