Daniel Weidner, 66, Dickinson, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Daniel’s funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Rev. Michael Wolters officiating. Interment will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Daniel Weidner was born July 11, 1943 at Beulah, the son of Herman and Emelia (Frei) Weidner. He was raised and educated in Halliday, graduating from Halliday High School in 1962. He then attended a year at Dickinson State College.
Daniel began a 45 year career with the North Dakota State Highway Department and when he retired in March 2008 due to health reasons, he was an Engineer Technician. Daniel married Marion Dschaak on April 12, 1964 at Zap. They made Dickinson their home in 1970.
Daniel enjoyed fishing and camping, collecting Allis-Chalmers tractors, spending time with his coffee buddies and he was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. His true joy came from spending time with his family.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Marion; their three children, Colleen (Eddie) Young, Bowie, Md., John (Shelia) Weidner, Fayetteville, N.C., and Candace (Jason) Lachenmeier, Dickinson; two grandsons, Brandon and Kyle Weidner; one sister, Bonnie (Vern) Fredrick, Flasher; and three brothers, Donald (Dianna) Weidner, Halliday, Fred (Donna) Weidner, Halliday, and Alvin (Donna) Weidner, Halliday. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Sarah.
