Darlene Gullickson, 69, Dickinson died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Golden Living Center East in Rochester, Minn. DJ’s memorial service will be at 7 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2009 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Mr. Milton “Bud” Olson presiding. Interment will take place at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Cemetery, New England. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Darlene “DJ” Weideman was born September 7, 1939 at Missoula, Mont. the daughter of Henry and Lydia (Daniels) Weideman. She was raised in Clinton, Mont. where she attended grade school and then Helgate High School in Missoula.
DJ moved to and made Dickinson her home in 1963. She married Douglas Gullickson in 1980. DJ worked as a brake person for the Burlington Railroad from 1976 to 1996 when she retired.
DJ and Doug were active in square dancing and served as the North Dakota State President in 1986. She also loved fishing, gardening and traveling in their motor home.
DJ is survived by her husband, Doug; two children, Karen Svetich and Don Kulawik; two grandsons, Shawn and Nick Svetich; her sister, Nancy (Kermit) Wheeler; her brother, Jim (Sandy) Weideman; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Hedy and Marvin Bohlman; many nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and her special companion, her dog, Chippers. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters.
With DJ’s connection to the Relay for Life, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
