David J. “DJ” Huncovsky, 28, Dickinson, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. DJ’s memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with the Rev. Scott McKirdy officiating. Inurnment will take place in the spring. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
David Jay Huncovsky was born March 7, 1981 in Dickinson, the son of David R. and Camey (Holbrook) Huncovsky. He was raised and educated here in Dickinson while living with his parents and two brothers. DJ had a happy childhood and always had a cadre of friends with him. He appreciated music and learned to play piano at an early age.
DJ loved sports and excelled in baseball, culminating in Title Play with Babe Ruth League. He truly excelled as a salesman and was employed in marketing a new cross-bow invention. He debuted the product at a Columbus, Ohio gun trade show a few days prior to his death. He was also an avid Vikings and Cubs fan.
DJ met Jessi Schneider and soon had a son, Dreyden, who has brought so much joy to the family. Also a special mention of Katrina Leland who was his companion the remainder of his life.
DJ is survived by his son, Dreyden; his parents, Dave and Camey Huncovsky, Dickinson; brothers, Mike (Mary Ellen) Swanson, Lewistown, N.Y., and Kelly Swanson, Billings, Mont.; nieces, Katie, Megan and Hailey Swanson; and his grandmothers, Harriet Doerr and Josephine Huncovsky, Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his grandpa’s, Harold Holbrook, Reiny Doerr and Don Huncovsky; aunt, Linda Stengel; uncles, Arlan Huncovsky and Maury Huncovsky; and grandparents Hilbert and Ardith Swanson.
