Dean R. Madler, 52, Dickinson, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 1, 2023 in Slope County. Dean’s Liturgy of Word Service will be at 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Fr. Dennis Schafer presiding. Inurnment will take place at later date. Visitation will be on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Dean Madler was born on July 25, 1970, in Dickinson, to David and Karen (Walby) Madler. He grew up on a farm north of New England, attended St. Mary’s, was very active in sports and graduated in 1988. He then attended DSU for one year, where he considered himself quite the ladies man.

His career as a working man started out in construction, which led to his job at TMI. While working at TMI, Dean met Lea and unexpectedly fell in love. Along with Lea, came two bonus children, who Dean whole heartily accepted as his own. Soon after meeting Lea the minions came along (Grace and Cadence). He was able to fulfill his favorite roll of being a daddy.

In addition to caring for his family he opened his heart to his many friends, neighbors and even strangers. Some of his favorite family adventures included hunting with Lea and the girls. For enjoyment he loved playing poker, pool, darts, solitaire, and having a beer with family and friends. And we can’t forget his best friends, the furry ones, Widget, and Harper. His sweet tooth was unbelievable. If there was a morsal of sugar, he would be able to sniff it out and enjoy it with his Mt. Dew

While in the presence of Dean you felt heard, loved, supported, and important. Although we feel that he was needed here, God needed another builder, and He called Dean home to be with Lea.

Dean is survived by his three children, Dion Madler, Grace Madler, and Cadence Madler; his two bonus kids, Matthew (Crystal) Miller and Rebecca (Jordan) Henrickson; four grandchildren, Raelynn, Riley, and Ryan Miller, and Avery Henrickson; his mother, Karen Madler; his father, Dave Madler; step-mother, Emily Madler; four siblings, Patricia (Patrick) MacFadden, Doug (Betsy) Madler, Dan (Tammy) Madler, and Paula Jo (Don) Dormer; in-laws, Deborah Harrington, Jason (Nicole) Cherwinski, Chip (Jacki) Cherwinski, and Jody (Mark) Goelzer; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lea Madler; grandparents; and nephew, Drew Madler.
