Delwin Duane Olson was born on August 27, 1966, to Duane and Corrine (Klaus) Olson in Dickinson. He lived on a farm on the south side of the Killdeer Mountains where his family raised cattle and sheep. He liked bottle feeding their three pet lambs (Moe, Larry and Curly). Del moved with his family to Fountain, Colo. and Manitou Springs, Colo. during the years of 1971-1973. In 1973 they moved back to Killdeer where he went to grade school and high school and was involved in boy scouts. As a child he would spend lots of time on the farm with his grandparents during the summer months where he would get grandma’s good German food.  During high school he played football and he loved to watch football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Del liked to give Ione and the family cat “Simon” rides on his motorcycle.

Following his high school graduation in 1984, he moved to Mesa, Arizona where he worked at a car wash. It was at this time that he met Toni and they were married. They had two daughters, Sara and Pam. He went on to work for Sandvick Construction and Apache Pipeline. Later, he moved back to Killdeer and worked for Justin Olson at Midwest Glass and drove weekend mail truck across North Dakota and Montana. Del went on to work for Dunn County for nearly 20 years and was there until his time of death.

Del went on motorcycle trips across many states including Alaska and Canada. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, and camping. He loved his mom’s caramel rolls, cheesecake and the big family and friend’s gatherings on Thanksgiving. One day a week for many years he did the Best Friends Program with Jason Lambert in Dickinson. He was the best “Papa” to his grandchildren.

Del was a member of the Invitation Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church for many years where he was an Elder and shared the Word and love of Jesus Christ. He was a light and inspiration to all and would often recite Bible verses and offer up prayer to anyone he could share the message with. He lived his best life on Earth and would want all his friends and family to follow and love Jesus so that one day everyone could be reunited in Heaven. “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” Psalm 73:26

Del is survived by, his parents, Duane and Corrine Olson; his sister, Ione (Marc) Schmidt; his daughters, Sara (John) Reiss, Pam (Shaun) Paul, Jessica Goad; step-daughter, Krista (Phil) Hardwick; his nieces, Jessica (Randy) Pierce, Jackie (Jake) Jenkin; grandchildren, Isaiah, Jacob, Justice, Katelynn, Wyatt, and Hadlee “#6”.
