Dennis “Denny” R. Wannemacher, 64, Mandan, formerly of Dickinson died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at St. Alexius Health Center, Bismarck after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services for Dennis will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Rev. Ted Johanson officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Denny was born November 7, 1946 to Ray and Pearl (Gayda) Wannemacher at Dickinson. After graduating from Dickinson High School, Denny began a 35 year career with NorthWestern Bell and was one of its first underground cable splicers in North Dakota. He married Lila Lindbo on April 7, 1969. Denny enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and woodcarving, but his favorite times were those spent with his children and grandchildren.

Denny is survived by his children, Lisa (Scott Sheldon) Volk, Ohio and Delray (Joy) Wannemacher, Colo.; his mother, Pearl, Dickinson.; three sisters, Linda (Tom) Rainsford, Fla., Donna (Barry) Kostelecky, Wash., and Tanya (Jerry) DeMaster, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Ray Wannemacher. Denny will be missed by his family for his love and dedication, by his friends for his loyalty and sportsmanship and by his grandchildren for his love of adventure and patience.
