Donald L. “Don” Rummel, 76, formerly of Richardton died Monday, December 8, 2008 at his home in Dickinson. Don’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 11, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton with Abbot Brian Wangler, OSB as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. There will be a rosary at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Don Rummel was born November 22, 1932 at Richardton to Fred and Charlotte (Gallagher) Rummel. He was raised on the family farm and attended school at Assumption Abbey. After graduating from high school, Don helped his dad on the farm. Don married Gladys Schulz September 22, 1953. In 1972 Don became the owner of Don’s Super Valu, Richardton which he owned until 1984. After retiring from the grocery business, Don became a handyman, retiring in 2000. He and Gladys moved to Dickinson in 2003. In his spare time, Don enjoyed gardening, watching Twins baseball, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife, Gladys, six children, Leon (Debbie), Gladstone, Karen (Randy) Larson, Moorhead, Minn., Cindy (Colin) Hayward, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Sheila (Joseph) Hammerschmidt, Beulah, Doug, Dickinson, and Becky Wilson, Dickinson; two sisters; three brothers; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
