Donn “Donny” Henley Greenwood was born April 24, 1966, to Larry and Joyce (Henley) Greenwood, the last of six children raised in Dickinson. Donny graduated from DHS in 1984.

In January of 1988, Donny chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the US Navy. He was deployed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. Donny supervised a crew of men refueling the aircrafts. During his time in the US Navy, he was lucky to sail the world twice visiting ports in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and Hawaii. Donny was honorably discharged in 1992. Upon his return to Dickinson, Donny worked various jobs before signing on with his brother Todd at Greenwood Lawn and Tree Care where he remained until early retirement.

In March of 2002, Donny and Christy (Gilbert) got married and Donny became a step-dad to Tressa. In April of 2003 Donny became a dad to his son Logan Henley. He often said that Logan was his greatest accomplishment. Donny was lucky enough to attend Logan’s graduation and took great pride in seeing the man that his son has become.

Donny enjoyed hunting, especially when Logan was of age, and fishing. He also liked reading and loved watching the history channel. He played darts on several teams in Dickinson for many years.

Donny Greenwood was without a doubt, the Minnesota Vikings #1 Fan. Anyone who knew him could easily find him during the season, cheering on his team.

Donny was a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He was a great listener to anyone, friend or stranger and could be counted on for a great hug. He was always willing to help a friend in need. He was happiest going to Logan’s wrestling tournaments and spending time with family and friends, especially when a good meal was involved.

Donny was a wonderful friend and a good man. He was truly loved and greatly missed.

Donn Greenwood is survived by his son, Logan; step-daughter, Tressa (Kyle Gentz); his life long best friend, Chad Renner; his brother from another mother, Sam Gilbert; his dog, Marley; his brothers, Dann (Deb), Scott (Renae) and Todd (Janice); sister, Joy Jilek; sister-in-law, Linda; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all from Dickinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Joyce Greenwood and his oldest brother Mark Greenwood.
