Donna Jirges, 66, New England, died Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center Bismarck. Donna’s Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Rev. James Hessler officiating. Interment will take place at New England Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Donna Hansen was born September 14, 1957, in Windom, MN, the daughter of Phillip and Sylvia (Schottle) Hansen. She was raised and educated in Windom, having graduated from Windom High School in 1976.
Donna was united in marriage to Bryan Jirges on June 26, 1976, in Windom. They moved to New England to take over the family farm where they operated a dairy and small grain farm. They were blessed with three children, Katrina, Alex and Travis.
She began serving as the librarian at the New England Public Library in 2007 until the time of her death. Donna’s faith and church ministries were very important to her. She especially cherished her time with her grandchildren and loved reading in her free time.
Donna is survived by her husband, Bryan; children, Katrina (Tony) Ashley, Columbus, OH, Alex (Kelly) Jirges, New England, and Travis (Chandra) Jirges, New England; five grandchildren, Michala, Arianna and Leah Ashley, Adric and Waylon Jirges; siblings, Bonnie (Terry) Tolk, Detroit Lakes, MN, Jim (Kitty) Hansen, Windom, MN, Barb (Russ) Brugman, Spirit lake, IA, Connie (Gary Biehn) Hansen, Burnsville, MN, and Patty (Rich) Bond, Lowry, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Mary and Allen.
