Doreen L. Altenburg, 76, Dickinson, died Friday, May 5, 2017 at Vibra on Sunset, Mandan. Doreen’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be Friday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with rosary & vigil at 6 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Bob Zent presiding.

Doreen Kubik was born October 31, 1940 in Dickinson to Vitres and Lillian (Urbanec) Kubik. She was raised in Belfield and graduated from Belfield High School in 1958.

Doreen was employed by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service at the Billings County office in Belfield. After 30 years of service to the government, she retired in Ashley, as the County Executive Director. She thoroughly enjoyed all of the people she worked with and traveled with them numerous times to the ASCS state and national conventions. She was a proud representative of the state of North Dakota.

Doreen and her former husband Jeff raised their four children in Belfield. She was an avid sports fan and never missed any of her kids’ sporting events. Her favorite spot was on the bleachers cheering on the Bantams and filling notebooks with stats. In her retirement, she enjoyed visiting her children and grandkids, reading, movies, golfing, working at the Heart River Golf Course, volunteering at the hospital, her bailiff job at the courthouse, and enjoying a cup of coffee with her good friends.

Doreen is survived by her children, Mike (Cathy) Altenburg, Reno, Nev., Ron (Amy) Altenburg, Minnetonka, Minn., Sandy (Chris) Roper, Denver, Colo., and Steve Altenburg, Aurora Colo.; eight grandchildren, Taylor (Stefan) Tica, Connor Altenburg, Evan Altenburg, Elizabeth Altenburg, Olivia Roper, Tori Altenburg, Mackenzie Altenburg and Landon Altenburg; sisters, Darlene Zarak, Dickinson and Doret Melby-Passolt, Edina, Minn.
