Doris M. Spencer, 90, Dickinson, died Friday, December 30, 2011 at St. Benedicts Health Center, Dickinson. Doris’ funeral service will be a 10 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Larry Vickery officiating. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Doris May Kozlowski was born on September 18, 1921 at Seattle, Wash., to John and Josie (Gray) Kozlowski. After completing her education in the Cody, Wyo., area Doris became a cook. She cooked at many different restaurants in many different states and man camps on various drilling rigs in several states. Her specialty was fried chicken and her family always looked foreword to Sunday lunch and her famous chicken. In her younger days, Doris enjoyed traveling and traveled many miles driving throughout the country. Doris enjoyed western music and was a wonderful dancer teaching her granddaughter, Debbie to dance when she was a young child. Over the years, Doris owned several dogs, the most recent, D.D., but she loved each one.
Doris enjoyed spending weekend afternoons at the local watering hole playing pull tabs with her family and friends, she had many, many lucky winning streaks! Doris cherished spending time with her new born great-granddaughter, Autumn and great-grandson, Jacob. Doris always had a kind heart and a generous hand for anyone that was in need – she will be greatly missed.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Karen Waugh, Dickinson; two grandchildren, Deborah Waugh, Dickinson and Robert Waugh, Jr., Dickinson: two great-grandchildren, Jacob Dickinson and Autumn Waugh, Glenn Spencer, Dickinson and grand puppy, Buddy.
