Dorothy A. Dorval, 86, Belfield, died Sunday, January 3, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck. Dorothy’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. William Ruelle, as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue at the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Thursday at the church, with Deacon Loren Kordonowy presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Friday.

Dorothy A. Ficek was born June 8, 1929 at Dickinson, the daughter of Jim and Anna (Kostelecky) Ficek. She was raised in the New Hradec area. While attending a dance at the Memorial Hall, she met Clarence Dorval, and the two were united in marriage on June 11, 1946. Together they raised 11 children.

The Dorval family made their home south of Belfield. She enjoyed gardening, playing pinochle, dancing, and helping with her church women activities. With her family, she enjoyed fishing and camping in their camper-school bus, watching NASCAR, the Minnesota Vikings, and following the Days of Our Lives program.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Mary Ann Dorval (Boyce), Grassy Butte, Leonard (Sharon) Dorval, Belfield, Gary (Colleen) Dorval, New Town, Alice Fischer, Underwood, Terry (Michelle) Dorval, Watford City, Loretta (Kevin) Wanner, Belfield, Bernice Glanzman (Charlie Huschka), Pick City, Neil Dorval, Hazen, and Robert Dorval, Belfield. She was blessed with 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by four siblings, Bob Ficek, Pierce, Minn., Laudie (Margie) Ficek, Dickinson, Agnes Ehli, Dumas, Texas, and Eddie (Judy) Ficek, Dickinson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence on January 14, 2013; son, Lawrence; daughter, Arvella Huisinger; grandsons, Tarin Dorval and Dalen Dorval; two sisters, Eleanor (Walter) Richard, and Lillian (Joe) Hatzenbiler; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Ficek.
