Dorothy Krank passed from this world on the morning of December 30th at the age of 95, with daughter Lorna at her side. Dorothy was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Dickinson to John and Eleanor Thielen. As a child the family moved around in the Dickinson area before finally settling on the farm northeast of Gladstone in 1942. Dorothy spent her childhood helping her parents on the farm and attending school in Gladstone.

In 1948 Dorothy and Joe Krank were married at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson and spent the majority of their years together on the same farm they purchased from Dorothy’s parents. She was proud of the fact that the farm is now run by the fourth and fifth generation. Joe and Dorothy raised a family of six and kept busy farming and ranching with dairy and beef cattle, hogs, chickens and in later years a few llamas for entertainment. While retired but still on the farm, they spent their years traveling and fishing before moving to Dickinson in 2005.

They purchased land in the mountains close to Anaconda MT and built a cabin that they enjoyed going to every summer. They spent many days fishing on Lake Sakakawea, Pouch Point, and mastered the art of catching big walleyes. Joe and Dorothy enjoyed a long trip to Alaska and many other trips around the lower 48. They also spent time vacationing with family that included a fishing trip to Canada, a trip to Niagara Falls, Las Vegas, Branson, MO, Victoria, BC among others. They spent a lot of time camping, boating, fishing and enjoying many family get-togethers. Throughout the years Dorothy was interested in gardening and loved to cook and bake, always making delicious dishes to share with visitors and family. After Joe’s passing in 2012 Dorothy opted for assisted living spending some time at Hawk’s Point before settling at St Benedict Court where she appreciated the company of many friends.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Marvin (Terry), Ed (Belle), Gary (Lynn), Kevin (Kathy), of this area, Lorna (Dan) Anaconda, MT , and Russ (Dawn) Golden, CO. Grandchildren include Cammy, Leah, Jay, Dawn, Jamie, Kari, Justin, Jordan, Kasey, Erin, Brandon, Taylor and Hannah; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and her wonderful lifelong friend and cousin, Clara Hauck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; granddaughters, Cammy and Erin; and two infant brothers.

The family would like to thank Hospice for all the support and care they gave mother during her sickness. A special thank you to Teresa, Melissa, Lacey, Ashley and all the wonderful staff at Benedictine Court for the many years of care and support. She considered many of you to be good friends.
