Dr. Robert Glen Todd, loving father, grandfather, husband, brother, teacher, scientist and gardener, joined his beloved wife Betty Jo and the Lord in loving eternity on June 13, 2025. Robert’s Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Rita Ennen and Pastor Scott McKirdy officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Hotchkiss, Colorado.

Robert was born on June 6, 1931, near Hotchkiss, Colorado to John and Dorothy (Davis) Todd.  He grew up farming and ranching on the family farm with his four brothers and loved returning there to reconnect with them and their families. He attended Hotchkiss High School and then received his BA from Western State College in Gunnison. He served in the US Army (Panama) and subsequently furthered his education with a master’s from CU Boulder and a Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma. He was a chemistry professor for 20+ years at Dickinson State University, followed by an eight-year stint working at Dakota Gasification near Beulah.

Robert was a kind and generous man. He was active in many organizations and his church. He liked his car club and drove his ’57 Chevy to shows and in parades. He was involved in Lions Club, bowling, and the ND Wildlife Federation and was an active member of the United Methodist Church. He and his wife Betty Jo set up a trust that annually awarded a scholarship to a student of Dickinson State University. 

Robert is survived by his four children: Fred Todd (Stella), Rebecca Olmstead, Roberta Magnuson and Levi Todd (Dorthea). He is also survived by one brother, John Todd (Nancy), eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty Jo, his son-in-law Garth Olmstead, and his brothers Jim, Dick, and Larry.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Robert’s name to the Dickinson United Methodist Church.
