Duane J. Boehm, 66, Richardton, died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Duane’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Abbot Brian Wangler, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military honors will be provide by the Richardton American Legion Theo R. Zech Post 180. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue at the church from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary and vigil at 8 p.m., with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Duane John Boehm was born May 19, 1948 at Dickinson, the son of Michael and Florentine (Melchior) Boehm. He was raised and educated in Richardton, graduating from Assumption Abbey Prep School.

Duane served honorably in the United States Air Force from April 4, 1967 to January 26, 1971, with 10 months being in Thailand. He returned to Richardton and was united in marriage to Chantra Pornlert on October 30, 1971 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He has been a lifelong member of the Richardton area where he farmed and ranched. The past 20 plus years they have been organic farmers. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Organic Crop Improvement Association, Northern Plains Sustainable Agriculture Society board member, treasurer, and advocate for sustainable agriculture, Dickinson Research Extension Center Agronomy Advisory Board, and Stark County Farmers Union. He was named NDSAS Steward of the Year 2008.

Duane is survived by his loving wife, Chantra; two daughters, Jennifer (Greg) Tufaro, New York, N.Y., and Sandi Boehm, Fargo; two grandsons, Chase Boehm, and Jakob Tufaro; his mother, Florentine Boehm, Dickinson; four siblings, Doug Boehm, Bismarck, Judy (Ron) Frederick, Richardton, Bev Boehm-Bleth, Dickinson, and Jolene (Lucas) Hoff, Richardton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Boehm.
