Duane R. Perfett, 66, Gladstone, passed away January 16, 2022, at the St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, MT. There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the St. Anthony Club, 105 1st St SE, Dickinson. Family condolences may be mailed to Maria Perfett, 733 1st Ave SW, Dickinson, ND 58601.

Duane was born September 18, 1955 in Hettinger, the son of Richard and Joyce (Moeller) Perfett.

Duane married Annette (Gimbel) Perfett, and had two children, Maria and Jacob. He also helped raise his step-daughter, Erica (Gimbel) Kuntz. Duane had two sons from a previous marriage (Ruth), whom preceded him in death, Dustin Perfett and Cody Perfett.

Duane had a rough start to his life with a heart condition and surgeries, but he led a very full life. He was raised in Hettinger, along side his many siblings. He decided to become a truck driver right out of high school and traveled all across the United States. He owned the Gladstone bar for many years as well. He loved spending time with his children, fishing, riding motorcycle, and watching movies. Duane dated Sandy Dinius for many years and they enjoyed riding motorcycle and taking trips together. He was also a volunteer fire fighter for the Gladstone Fire Department. He was a very hard working man that established Duane Perfett Trucking, which he ran for many years as well.

Duane was diagnosed with renal failure in 2015. He was doing dialysis for five years and decided he just didn’t want to live like that anymore. He made the decision to fly free in January 2022 after getting to spend some precious moments with his children.

Duane is survived by his three children, Maria, Jacob, and Erica; brothers, Dave Perfett,  Deadwood, SD and Craig Perfett, Hettinger; sisters, Barb Schlangen, Cresco, IA, Cindy Silkman, Clark, SD, and Becky Holt, Ralph, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; his mother Joyce; sons, Dustin and Cody; and sister, Arlys Heupel.
