Dustin Vernon Pottorff, 39, Dickinson, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 28, 2024, in Dickinson. Dustin’s Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Pastor Tyler Doohen as officiant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Dustin was born June 8, 1984, in Dickinson, the son of Dale and Renee (Gullickson) Pottorff. He attended Jefferson Elementary School, Hagen Junior High, and graduated from Dickinson High School in 2002. As a child, he participated in Boy Scouts, baseball, flag football, and basketball. He fell in love with golf early on and competed throughout his school years. Dustin went on to attend Dickinson State University and then transferred to the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. He graduated with an associate degree in surveying.

Dustin’s love for golf continued into adulthood. He was a member of Heart River Golf Course, where he often played for fun and competed in scrambles and tournaments. Also an avid bowler, Dustin owned numerous bowling balls and enjoyed the challenges found on the lanes. Most evenings, he could be found participating in leagues, either bowling or throwing darts. Dustin enjoyed watching NFL football and was an avid Raiders fan. He also spent time doing woodworking.

Dustin was proud of his work as a surveyor and enjoyed his time spent in the field.  He worked most of his career at Highlands Engineering. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and coworkers, and especially by his much-loved dog, Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; grandfather, Roger Pottorff; uncle, Paul Gullickson; and aunt, Renatta Pottorff.

Dustin is survived by his parents; sister, Sarita (Garrett) Schank; nephew and niece, Theodore and Juliette Schank; grandmother, Carol Pottorff; and aunts, Jane (Page) Myers, and Tina Gullickson; and cousins.
